Knife frenzy killer deemed sane

A teenager murder a schoolgirl on the central coast in a frenzied knife attack was not suffering from a mental disorder a forensic psychiatrist told a Sydney court on 12th sep 2008

A teenager who only can be named as DL when he was 16 he ambushed Tania Burgess in deserted car park of the forester’s Beach Resort on her way home from school in July 2006.

“I would like to believe there was such an explanation… but I can’t find any psychiatric explanation for that attack.” He said.

This is a really serious case that teenage to become a criminal and a teenage to be murdered just as a schoolgirl. The society and the parents should take care of their children and also the school has responsibilities too.

“WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE, ALL THE TIME!”

Simple strategies to improve your personal safety.
This advice is intended to raise your awareness of crime, not you fear of crime.

Basic Rules for Safety
Stay alert, keep your mind on your surroundings and be aware of what is happening around you at all times.
Communicate confidence & calmness, stand tall & walk with a purpose.
Trust your instincts, remember your body gives you signs when it does not feel safe.
If you feel uncomfortable in a place or situation, leave if you can as quickly as possible to reduce the likelihood of you becoming the victim of a crime.

At Home
Always lock the door.
Avoid opening doors for strangers.
Do not give your information to strange callers.
Do not tell people you live alone.
Know your neighbors.
Hang up immediately on any threatening or harassing callers. If these calls persist, report continues concerns to your telephone company.
Don’t tell anyone that you are at home alone.
Leave spare keys with a trusted friend, never in hiding places.

Out & About
Plan the safest route to your destination and use it.
Try to use busy well-lit streets & avoid shortcuts through isolated areas if you can.
Know your neighborhood and where you can get help if you need it.
Remember property can be replace, your life cannot.
Don’t fight for the safe of property alone, you may be injured.
Be particularly careful when use poorly lit, isolated areas such as car parks etc.

Using Public Transport
At the railway station, stand back from the edge of the platform.
Avoid sitting near the exit door of the train, as an attacker may be able to grab your property & run before you can react.
If you a verbally or physically abused attract attention by talking loudly or screaming.
Try to travel with companions or in a carriage where there are a number of other people.
While waiting, stand with other people or near the ticket office or a shop. Don’t stand-alone.

If You Are ATTACKED
Remember, no other person has the right to physically, psychologically or emotionally abuse you. You don’t have to put up with it.
Try to remain calm, try not to panic or show any signs of anger or confusion.
If the attacker is only after your property, give it to them, remember property can be replaced, your life cannot.
Make a conscious effort to get an accurate description of your attacker, age, race, sex, complexion, height, body build, weight, type and color of clothing.
Tell the police as soon as possible after the attack. Don’t let it happen, there are other people that can help you.
There are also a number of other agencies that can assist you in time of trouble.

Bodies found in unit block

Two Chinese women killed in Auburn

According to the Sydney Moring Herald, there were two dead women’s bodies founded in an Auburn apartment on 13th Nov.

The neighbor said they had heard the women screaming in the night these were killed. The weirdest thing is, there are 9 people live in the same flat, and the dead bodies were found after 5 days.

In Sydney, heaps of people share a small flat is very common among the overseas students. But the coming problem is lacking of safety. Put in this way, if you were a young girl and you sharing a flat with 6 people whom you do not know well. Some of them always like to bring the “friends”, which are the strangers for you. We know, the room doors in Australia don’t have locks. It is very dangerous, because these your valuable stuffs could be stolen or you could be raped when you are sleeping; even worse, you might be killed by no reason.

Hope everybody can enhance vigilance. Especially this period, the big economic crush increases the percentage of crimes. The society is full of panic. Don’t forget to give a call to your friends and family for concern.

Chinese voice concern after second assault

On 16th November The Sydney Morning Herald national section have this article in the front page.

The attack on the 21-year-old woman in Coffs Harbour came nine days after an 18-year-old woman plunged to her death from a Waterloo balcony while trying to escape an alleged sex attacker.

The victim is an international student from China and study at Southern Cross University.

Both are the sad stories, the consulate general of the People's Republic of China in Sydney said it had sought reassurance from NSW Police that international Asian students will receive better protection.

The NSW police should protect international student which from other countries to protect their safety.

Death of 14 year-old Daniel Awak

This chilling murdering attack was happened in the afternoon on November 14. Daniel, the boy who is only 14 years old, and immigrates to Australia with his mother for seeking peaceful life as refugees. No one ever imagines that Daniel would die here.

The criminal is an unknown teenager off African appearance, as The Daily Telegraph reported; he brought a 15cm knife and stabbed Daniel on heart that this wound leaded to the death.

The Daily Telegraph did not report the motivation of this murder, but I guess this is not a random killing, the criminal may did it in purpose. However, violent killing action is not the way to solve their conflicts, if they do have any.
